When Kristine Fong began planning her wedding to Tyler Brown, the couple knew their sentiment for Maui, shared love of modern design and passion for food & wine would be the focus of their momentous occasion. Since the couple both work in the Hospitality and Food & Beverage Industries (hers at TS Restaurants and his at Tommy Bahamas), the elegance of Merriman’s Kapalua seaside location and widely celebrated cuisine were the perfect venue to share with their guests. In the words of the bride, they envisioned “a chic event, set in an island paradise…a contemporary event with timeless detail.” Talented husband and wife wedding photographers Dmitri & Sandra Photography shared in the delight of family and friends on December 10, 2011 as Kristine and Tyler pledged their love to one another while overlooking the endless beauty of the ocean.
To honor the bride’s heritage, Kristine shared a traditional Chinese tea ceremony with her groom and their families prior to the ceremony, and proudly displayed the thousand origami cranes folded by herself and her mother for traditional Japanese wedding blessings. The Merriman’s Kapalua reception space was transformed with the help of Dellables impeccable floral design, enhanced with vibrant ivory and violet hues to echo the striking ocean design which adorned their invitations and a stunning wedding cake by Maui Wedding Cakes. Celebrants dined on an incredible meal by famed chef Peter Merriman before the music commenced with DJ Mackie of A-List Entertainment, who had guests dancing late into the evening. For the blissful couple, there could have been no greater expression of their love than to celebrate on the romantic island that brought them together, surrounded by the love of their family and friends.
